1.2 Where does the name of "Mew" come from?

Where does the name of "Mew" come from?
A.
Mew is an acronym of "Messaging in the Emacs World". You should spell it with the first letter capitalized and pronounce it as it is(i.e. meow of cats). When the author started programming it, he chose a cute word from his English dictionary. So, Mew.

1.3 Where is the current version of Mew?

Where can I get the current version of Mew?
A.
The current version of Mew is avalable at ftp://ftp.mew.org/pub/Mew/mew-current.tar.gz. You should prepare a series of perl scripts, Internet Message (IM), in order to install Mew-1.9x. The current version of IM is avaliable at ftp://ftp.mew.org/pub/Mew/im-current.tar.gz.

After the release of Mew version 1.92, the following two packages are available:

Official release package
Official package has developed for bug-fix and stablization. The version number of this package is represented with dot-separated three numbers like `1.XX.Y'. It is provided as a patch for the package such as `mew-1.XX-1.XX.Y.patch' and `mew-1.XX.Y-1.XX.Z.patch'.
Beta release package
This package is released for new functionalities.
